  Where do we live?

1.  Read this with your teacher:

There are many names for where you live.

You live in a home.

Your home is in a community.

Your community is in a state.

Your state is in a country.

Your country is in a continent that is part of the planet Earth.

2.  Our Planet:  Earth

Read a few Earth facts with your teacher

 How many planets away from the sun is Earth?

3.  Our Continent:  North America

A continent is a very large body of land.

Our country is part of a continent called North America.

Other countries in this continent are Canada and Mexico.

A country is a land and the people who live there.

Our country is the United States of America.

Our country has 50 states.

 



Look at the map of our country.

Texas is a big state at the bottom of the map.

California is a big state on the left of the map.

Rhode Island is a small state.

Alaska and Hawaii are two states that are separate from the others.
