Land and Water:

Earth is made of water and land.

Read about land with your teacher.

 

1.  Types of land:

Continent

The land on Earth is divided into continents.

A continent is a large piece of land.

The seven continents are Africa, Antarctica, Asia, Australia,

Europe, North America, and South America.

 

 

 

Plain

Flat land is called a plain.

The state of Iowa is part of a big plain.

Hill    

A hill is land that is higher than the land around it.

Oceans are large bodies of water around the continents.

Earth has seven continents and many oceans.

 

Oceans are the largest bodies of water.

The Pacific Ocean is the largest ocean on Earth.

Lake
A lake is a body of water with land all around it.

Minnesota has many lakes.

Minnesota has 11,842 lakes that are 10 acres or more!

River
A river flows across the land.
