As
Counselor at Mountain Park Elementary I am excited and delighted! One of my
main goals as a counselor is to develop self-esteem and pride in children,
increase their awareness, and give them skills to go out into the world and
become lifelong learners and productive citizens. My mission is to reach
students with a positive message thus providing essential tools to meet daily
challenges. As a counselor my aspiration is to care for students by instilling
subject matters such as: Good Study
Habits, Career Workshops, Avoiding Peer Pressure, Pursuing your Dreams,
Purpose, Setting and Reaching Goals, Being in Control of Your Own Actions,
Saying No to Drugs, Understanding your Potential and many more.
Counseling
constitutes a positive role model behavior thus, providing crisis intervention
or conflict resolution in emergency/stressful situations requiring immediate
attention, and leading group discussions and interactions. I find my current
position both challenging and rewarding. The interaction that I experience with
students and witnessing their growth is indescribable.
I believe that
Counseling is best measured by the ability to meet the needs socially,
emotionally, or academically of the students, faculty and staff. As a counselor
I must commit myself fully to the pursuit of knowledge in order to provide the
highest level of guidance.
Some of my duties and
responsibilities as a counselor include the following:
