Old Business:

Looking into hiring Richard Ziemba after school hours to assist with technology implementation in the school. We now have 2 wireless hubs from Office Depot in order to get the basic technology while we wait for the county to install wireless throughout the building. Splost III will pay for this.
New Business
Building Renovation -
16 classroom addition, two levels
880 square feet per classroom, includes storage (14 of these)
1100 square feet per “special ed” classrooms (2 of these)
Other small renovations to the school were based on a needs assessment filed about
3 years ago (new hardware on doors, carpet replaced everywhere except
Media center. Gym carpet will be replaced.)
Timeline: Additional upper lot parking, renovations, and trailer moving, walkway system from trailers to building will take place prior to the 2008-2009 school year opening (summer). At this time, there are no bathroom facilities for these students outside of the building. For construction of the building, bids will be received in July. August will be the board meeting to get approval. Parents and teachers may be solicited to attend this board meeting to encourage board approval. Start of construction should be around the first of September. 300+ days for construction. No construction will be going on during arrival and dismissal times, testing periods, etc. They will maximize work on Saturdays and school holidays.
Early Release Day –
February and March will bring one hour dedicated to a book study for all staff members – Whatever It Takes. There will also be one hour of technology training (teachers have a menu of classes to choose from). Two hours will be devoted to team time to work on math and Schoolwide Enrichment units. Lunches are optional on ERD. There will not be an official lunch break, but students who wish to eat, will do so as instruction continues. Next year, we will look at the possibility of doing something different with the specialist schedules on ERD, after seeing what other schools may be doing that is working.
