 MPE Goes Platinum!! As part of the No Child Left Behind Act, the Governor’s Office of Student Achievement is recognizing schools for excellence in student achievement and/or progress (greatest gain) in student achievement. Awards include Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum certificates that represent various categories. Mountain Park Elementary School will walk away with the Platinum Award for the 2004-05 school year as 65% of students exceeded expectations. We are very excited about our status and will continue to set the standard of excellence you have come to expect from MPE. Thank you for all you will do to help us reach our goal! The State of Georgia’s School Report Card has come out. There are 4 levels. They are: Platinum Award- To be a platinum award winning school, a school must meet the following criteria: -Must be in the top 98 percentile of schools in the state of Georgia who meet an exceed the state standards -The school cannot be in Needs Improvement -The school met AYP for the last 3 years -35% or more students exceed the state standards Gold Award– To be a gold award winning school, a school must meet the following criteria: -Must be in the top 97 percentile of schools in the state of Georgia who meet and exceed the state standards -The school cannot be in Needs Improvement -The school met AYP for the last 2 years -30% or more students exceed the state standards Silver Award– To be a silver award winning school, a school must meet the following criteria: -Must be in the 96 percentile of schools in the state of Georgia who meet and exceed the state standards -The school cannot be in Needs Improvement -The school met AYP for the last 2 years -25% or more students exceed the state standards Bronze Award– To be a bronze award winning school, a school must meet the following criteria: -Must be in the top 95 percentile of schools in the state of Georgia who meet and exceed the state standards -The school cannot be in Needs Improvement -20% or more students exceed the state standards I am pleased to announce that Mountain Park Elementary School has been awarded the Platinum Award for the highest percentage of students meeting and exceeding academic standards.
