MPE Creates Sculpture-"Mountain Harmony"

2005-06

Jeff Mather (sculptor) along with art teacher, Kacey Ciprari-Murphy and Parent Volunteers facilitated MPE students in creating and building an outdoor site sculpture. Students began the process by creating digital images in the computer lab of what the sculpture might look like. After the planning stage, students dug holes, poured concrete, sanded wood, and painted a variety of materials, all in effort to create a piece of art that the entire Mountain Park community will admire and appreciate for many years to come.
The sculpture was dedicated in a ceremony on March 14, 2006 that included attendees such as MPE students, teachers, parents, administrators and Mountain Park Mayor, Jere Wood.

“MOUNTAIN HARMONY”
Congratulations to 2nd grader Ava Stovall for submitting the winning name of “Mountain Harmony” for the site sculpture built at MPE during the 2005/06 school year. This Cultural Arts project, led by artist Jeff Mather, is a wonderful visual enhancement to our community. Many thanks to all who submitted names. The choice was a difficult one!
